Plagiarism policy

PLAGIARISM

Agrology accepts only original material for publication, articles that have not been published previously and have not been submitted for publication to any other publisher.

Manuscripts with plagiarism or textual borrowings without references to original sources are rejected by the Editorial Board immediately after a plagiarism check.

Plagiarism before publication

The editorial board of Agrology carefully analyzes any case of plagiarism. If plagiarism or textual borrowing is detected by the editors or reviewers at any stage prior to publication of a manuscript, the author(s) shall be advised of any changes to the text or references to original sources. If plagiarism accounts for 25%, an article may be rejected and the author’s institution shall be informed.

Plagiarism Check Policy

Manuscripts with detected plagiarism are processed based on the amount of plagiarism. If there is less than 15% of plagiarism, the manuscript is immediately sent back to the author (s) for a content review, and if there is more than 20% of plagiarism, the manuscript is rejected without editorial review. The authors shall be advised of reviewing the text borrowings and detected plagiarism, and resubmiting their manuscripts.

Percentage of plagiarism is estimated by software and evaluated by the Editorial Board.

Plagiarism after publication

If plagiarism is detected after publication, the Editorial Board shall analyze the fact and report the author about plagiarism. Plagiarized pages will be marked in a PDF. Depending on amount of plagiarism, the document may be removed (deleted).

Recommendations for avoiding plagiarism

Any text from one sentence or more, reproduced in an article without or with little modifications, or in a translation from another source, must be accompanied by a reference to this source. Exceptions are only allowed for standard text clichés.

If a paraphrasing or a loose translation of another author’s text takes more than one paragraph, a reference to a corresponding text should be made at least once in each paragraph.

If a citation from a particular source is not in the original source, the reference should be to a direct citation source.

Authors are responsible for receiving permissions for use, that is, reproduction, illustrative material, tables taken from other authors and / or sources. A permit must be mencioned at the bottom of each item.

Auto-plagiarism

Some authors may write some chapters for several different books that are only slightly modified. Each manuscript is copyrighted after its publication. As the author no longer owns the rights to these sections, they should not be repeated. Most editors and reviewers argue that auto-plagiarism is unethical. Thus, the author cannot copy his own material for a new manuscript without a permission of copyright owner. An exception may be quoting author's short phrases from his own work, accompanied by appropriate references.
